About us

In 2012, the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Nature Partnership (HEY LNP) achieved formal government status as one of 47 LNPs across England, tasked to act strategically and change how we work with the natural environment, demonstrating its benefits to people and the economy.

The HEY LNP represents over 40 interested groups and organisations in the public, private, community and voluntary sectors. It is directed by a Partnership Board, representing a wide range of interests and areas reliant upon the natural environment.

In line with the Natural Environment White Paper and the Lawton Report, the HEY LNP is supporting others to work at a landscape scale, changing whole ecosystems rather than just individual sites. The HEY LNP identifies key landscapes in its area to focus activity, some of which includes working with neighbouring LNPs that share important landscapes, such as the Wolds, the Humber and the Humberhead Levels.

The work in these landscapes is holistic, benefiting not only wildlife, but also the people that live and work there. The LNP works with a range of local and national partnerships and groups to deliver its objectives efficiently, identify funding opportunities and promote the benefits of the natural environment to a variety of sectors. The HEY LNP also convenes biannual meetings of the HEY Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) steering group to discuss local INNS issues and solutions.

We make sure that nature’s inherent value, and the value of the free services it provides to the economy and the people who live here, is considered in local decision-making. The HEY LNP supports a successful sustainable future for the area by creating a positive dialogue about the natural environment and promoting investment in the natural environment. We unlock our natural potential by:

recognising opportunities

inspiring others

creating ownership

We work with key stakeholders and collaborate with decision makers such as the HEY Business Growth Skills Hub (formally HEY LEP), ERYC Public Health, local authorities and the business community.
